How Effective Are Laser Hair Removal Treatments At The Clinic Cheshire?

Our laser hair removal treatments in our Stockport clinic use the EpilMe device, which uses diode laser technology to target hair follicles. The laser heats the follicle to a point where it disrupts the cells responsible for hair growth, minimising the chance of that hair returning.

With advanced modes, we can treat most skin and hair types, unlike some traditional IPL devices. A built-in cooling system ensures safety and reduces discomfort for our patients. Multiple sessions are needed to target hairs during their growth phase, and then once the full treatment is complete, ongoing maintenance is few and far between. Over time, patients experience noticeably reduced hair regrowth.

"Liz is the absolute BEST...she is so knowledgeable, puts you at ease and honest - she will decline to treat if she doesn’t think something will work for you or you don’t need. Always thrilled with my results."

Pre & Post Treatment Advice

  1. The treatment area(s) needs to be shaved 12-24 hours prior to treatment.
  2. Avoid sun exposure / artificial tanning, if you have a suntan in the treatment area, you will need to wait until this fades before treatment can carried out.
  3. If you have herpes simplex in the treatment area, you should take preventative medication prior to treatment e.g. Zovirax.
  4. Avoid chemical peels and microdermabrasion for one week prior to treatment.
  5. Avoid products with high active ingredients (e.g. Retinol, Glycolic Acid) for one week before treatment.
  1. Redness and swelling may appear after treatment. Applying iced water or aloe gel can help.
  2. Use a mild deodorant for 24 hours after an underarm treatment.
  3. Avoid sun exposure / artificial tanning for two weeks post treatment.
  4. Do not carry out any waxing, tweezing or other non laser hair removal methods that can disturb the hair follicle. Shaving between treatments is ok.
  5. Avoid products with high active ingredients (e.g. Retinol, Glycolic Acid) for one week after treatment.

Frequently Asked Questions

From the first laser hair removal treatment in our Stockport clinic, you will notice a reduction in hair regrowth. Therefore, each session will result in a reduction of hair growth; the extent is slightly different from client to client.

Hair removal treatments are not guaranteed to be permanent; however, they do provide long-lasting results. Laser treatments are designed to reduce the amount of hair growing in the treatment area, and after 6 treatments, you will likely notice a significant difference with minimal hair regrowth. Some patients may need more than 6 treatments and top-up treatments as and when can be recommended to keep the maximum benefit, typically around once a year.

There can be some minimal side effects from laser hair removal treatments, such as mild redness, swelling and itching after treatment. These are normal but if you’re concerned, please contact us. In rare cases, there can be bruising, blistering and some changes to the pigmentation of your skin. If you experience any of these side effects, please call the clinic as soon as possible.

The number of laser hair removal sessions required differs from client to client; however, the average is usually 6 treatments for the main block, then top-ups as and when you need them. When you come in for a laser hair removal consultation in Stockport, we can discuss this further.

A full-body laser cost will be dependent on exactly which areas you want to be included in your package. Another differentiating factor will be how many sessions you would need, as this is dependent on how your hair follicles take to the treatment. However, small areas start from £25 per session, and then we also provide packages for combining areas. Our team will be happy to talk you through all of the options in your consultation or take a look at our price list for more information.

We would recommend that all of our clients return for their sessions of laser hair removal/reduction every 4 to 6 weeks; however, this will be dependent on which areas are being treated. That doesn’t mean you can’t visit our Cheshire clinic in between your laser hair removal sessions for a different professional skin treatment!

If you have any additional questions about laser hair removal at The Clinic Cheshire, please don’t hesitate to give our friendly team a call or book a consultation and we can answer your questions when we see you.
